I love this video arranged and with original music by Joan Jiménez showing images from last summer in Tokyo.
Reality is the contrast between what we have inside and what exists outside. I invite you to a shared trip to Tokyo where I put eyes and music and you all put the sensations…
The electric motorbike prototype in the video is able to reach 150 km/h, while the battery charging time is only 6 hours and has autonomy of 200 km. It will cost around 3.000 euros and will be released to the Japanese market next year.
The motorbike design reminds me of the motorbikes in the movie Akira.
In Japan, they take custom cars seriously. Just look at some of these! A Buddhist priest spent $110,000 creating a car with gullwings, scissor doors and a splithood. Oh, and then there's the $280,000 Batman van.
The vehicles appearing in this video are:
- A rather ordinary-looking BMW E66 whose trunk is decked with Buddhist sutras written in 30,000 Swarovski crystals (the owner, a Buddhist priest, also owns the next vehicle).
- A Toyota Celsior UCF20 with gullwings, scissor doors and a split hood, which took 12 years to build and cost 10 million yen ($110,000). The interior includes 24 monitors, including several mounted in the headrests behind the passengers’ heads (you can watch them with the eyes in the back of your head, according to the priest).
- Batman van, a rolling tribute to the superhero that cost 25 million yen ($280,000), took 13 years to complete, and earned the owner a divorce.
- Rocket launcher van, a 1981 Daihatsu Hijet outfitted with a cheap launcher for an 8-meter (26-ft) water rocket (the owner is an eggplant farmer).
- Replica of the “Pointer,” the famous battle vehicle used by the Earth Defense Force in the Ultra Seven TV series that aired on Japanese TV in the late 1960s.
- Fan-flapping Hitachi ASTACO machine, which the Tokyo Fire Department Hyper Rescue Team uses to clear debris from disaster sites.
Holy shit, Japan is getting prepped to drop $21 billion on a solar power station in space, one that will beam enough energy back to Earth to power 294,000 homes. With no cables.
The whole deal is being put together by Mitsubishi Electric Corp. and industrial design company IGI Corp. The plan involves a gigantic solar panel floating around in space, soaking up a gigawatt of energy and beaming it to Earth without the use of cables. And they hope to have it ready to rock within four years.

Using cameras so sensitive that they can detect single photons, researchers at Kyoto University discovered that humans emit visible light.
We know, these images look like standard infrared heat maps, but they're not. They actually depict visible light emanating from skin, the results of scientists tracking five 20 year old males standing in front of a dark room camera for frequent sessions throughout a day.
Apparently linked to metabolism, light emittance seemed to rise and fall during the day with the lowpoint tracked to around 10am and the high point around 4pm. Also notable was that the face seemed to constitently emit the most light, a supposed byproduct of more melanin in the skin (the stuff that makes you tanner) because melanin has fluorescent components that might be enhancing the results.
Mult asteptatul “Gokusen: The Movie” s-a lansat in sfarsit in Japonia in weekendul trecut.
In centrul serialului s-a aflat o tanara (interpretata de Yukie Nakama din “O-Oku”) ce traieste in lumea Yakuza, fiind cea de-a patra generatie a unei familii temute in Japonia.

Japanese salarymen have it tough. They may be expected to be at work at 8.30am and with many facing a crowded 1.5-2 hour commute by train, this means getting up early even if they had a late night of drinking with the boss the previous night.
Single Japanese salarymen who aren’t married or have nice Japanese girlfriends that make them breakfast, need to do everything themselves and some have perfected the art ofthe 5 minute wake up and go. Japanese comedian Tomonori Jinnai shows us on Japanese TV just how to get up, eat breakfast, get dressed and get ready for work in just five minutes.
This house might look like it's straight out of the future, but it's actually based on the oldest house design in Japan: the pit dwelling.
Pit dwellings were built by placing a steep thatched roof over a hole dug in the ground. That's just what architect Makoto Tanijiri did for a family in Saljo, Japan.
As you can see, what appears to be a solid pyramid sticking out of the ground from the street actually sits on a room with windows on all sides. I'm not sure I'd want to live in a home designed quite like this, but it's pretty awesome nonetheless.
Still by far, the most entertaining Japanese TV airing today is Kinchan no Kasoh Taisho This amazing competition showcases the most imaginative and creative minds and is all “low tech”. Take a look at the latest season’s entries.
